Notification Center

Included in Release 8.3

The Management Notification Center keeps users informed about important events, updates, and actions required within Redbox Management. Notifications are prioritised to ensure critical information is seen and acted on promptly, while lower‑priority updates remain visible without disruption.

Notification Types

Notifications are categorised by type to help users quickly understand their purpose:

  • Info – General information or updates that do not require action.

  • Warning – Potential issues that may require attention.

  • Action Required – Items that require user action to resolve.

  • Message – Direct communication from the Redbox team or system.

  • Link – Notifications that direct users to a specific page or resource.

Notification Priorities

Each notification is assigned a priority level that determines how it is delivered and presented to the user.

  • Low - No toast notification, no email and only appears in the notification center.

  • Normal - Toast shown for 10 seconds and an email is sent if the user is offline.

  • High - Toast shown for 30 seconds and an email is always sent.

  • Urgent - Toast remains visible until dismissed and an email and SMS is always sent.

Where to View Notifications

Left Navigation (At a Glance)

Users can see their notifications directly from the left navigation bar in Redbox Management.

  • Dismiss notifications once they are no longer relevant

This view is designed for fast awareness and immediate action.

When Notifications Are Sent

Notifications may be generated for a wide range of reasons, including but not limited to:

  • Outstanding balances on invoices

  • Outlet deactivation due to Paybox issues

  • Disconnected terminals during opening times - see the Terminal - Hardware Support guide for more information on activating this feature.

These notifications ensure users are kept informed about system health, financial status, and platform updates.

Best Practices

  • Regularly check the Notification Center to stay up to date.

  • Treat Action Required, High, and Urgent notifications as priorities.

  • Ensure your users' contact details are up to date to receive email and SMS alerts where applicable.

Terminal Offline Notifications

A Terminal Offline Notification is sent when a terminal has been offline for an extended period and may be affecting order processing.

To prevent unnecessary alerts, several conditions must be met before a notification is sent.

Conditions for Sending a Terminal Offline Notification

  1. The terminal has notifications enabled
The specific terminal must be configured to send offline notifications. See the Terminal - Hardware Support guide for more information on activating this feature.

  2. The terminal is currently offline
The system confirms that the terminal is no longer connected and not within a short reconnection grace period.

  3. The terminal has been offline for at least 60 minutes
A minimum offline duration must be reached before alerts are triggered. This prevents notifications being sent for brief network interruptions.

  4. A notification has not been sent recently
To avoid repeated alerts, a cooldown period is applied. Once a notification is sent, another will not be sent again for the same terminal within 24 hours.

  5. The terminal is linked to at least one outlet
The terminal must be associated with an outlet.

  6. At least one linked outlet is currently open
Notifications are only sent during active business hours based on the outlet’s opening times.

Notification Delivery

When all conditions above are met, the system sends:

  • An email notification

  • A Redbox system notification

After the notification is sent, a 24-hour cooldown period begins to prevent repeated alerts for the same terminal.
