Before you begin: Your Sunmi Cloud Printer must be physically set up and connected to Wi-Fi before completing the steps in this guide. See the Sunmi Cloud Printer Setup Guide to get started.
Integrating a Sunmi Cloud Printer with Redbox Management allows outlets to automate remote order printing over Wi-Fi. Cloud printers communicate directly with Redbox over the cloud and operate independently from Redbox terminals.
Incoming orders are printed automatically as soon as they are moved to the 'Accepted' status, allowing receipts to route directly to any physical location without interaction from a terminal.
Device Management
Connecting the Printer to an Outlet in Redbox Management
How to find the 'Add Device' wizard: Redbox Management → Businesses → Devices → Add Device
-
Open the 'Add Device' wizard in Redbox Management.
-
Select 'Printer' from the 'Device Type' dropdown.
-
Select the outlets this printer will receive orders from under 'Outlet'.
-
Enter a recognisable name in the 'Friendly Name' field.
-
Input the exact serial number found on the base label of the cloud printer.
-
Select 'Add Printer' to proceed.
-
Verify the test print sent to the device to confirm a successful connection.
-
Select 'Done' once the test print has been received, or 'Retry' to resend it.
Cloud-Based Print Queues
To ensure continuous order management, a cloud-based queue in Redbox will temporarily store incoming orders for up to 24 hours whenever a printer goes offline, such as when the device loses connection or runs out of paper.
Once the printer is reconnected or becomes operational, all stored orders from the last 24 hours are automatically sent to the device for printing.
Clearing the Cloud Print Queue
How to clear the print queue: Redbox Management → Businesses → Devices → Select a Printer → Settings → Clear Queue
The 'Clear Queue' feature allows a user to manually remove all pending print jobs stored in the cloud, stopping any currently queued orders from being printed.
This feature is designed to prevent a printer from continuously printing unwanted or outdated receipts when the device is brought back online after an extended offline period.
Printing Orders
Automatically Accept and Print Orders
Cloud print can be used in combination with the 'Auto Accept Incoming Orders' option in Redbox Management to seamlessly print incoming orders directly from the cloud printer.
When 'Auto Accept Incoming Orders' is enabled in Redbox Management for the outlet linked to the device, incoming orders will automatically move from 'Pending' to 'Accepted' and print directly without requiring manual review.
Automatic Order Printing Timings
Orders print automatically from the device when the order status moves from 'Pending' to 'Accepted' in Redbox Management. This can occur in three scenarios:
-
Auto-Accept: Outlets with 'Auto Accept Incoming Orders' enabled move customer orders to 'Accepted' immediately upon placement.
-
Physical Terminal: Staff members manually move orders to 'Accepted' via a physical terminal using 'Quick Accept' or 'Increase Time and Accept'.
-
Redbox Management: Orders are accepted in Redbox Management using the 'Virtual Terminal' or the 'Orders' section.
Manually Printing an Order
How to reprint an order: Redbox Management → Orders → Select an order → Select Wireless Print Icon → Select a printer
Individual orders can be manually sent to the cloud printer on demand in Redbox Management. This allows copies of orders to be printed as required if a receipt is lost or the order details become outdated.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting
Checking Device Connectivity
There are several quick checks to perform to ensure the device is connected to Redbox and ready to print.
Network Connection Check
-
🖨️ Check that the 'Network Status' LED on the printer is solid blue to confirm it is connected to a network.
-
🖨️ For advanced network troubleshooting, press the network pairing button at the rear of the physical printer to print a detailed network diagnostic sheet directly from the device.
-
📱 Use the SUNMI Assistant App to reconfigure the current network, or unbind and rebind the device to reconnect to the same or a new network.
Check Connection in Redbox Management
-
Search for the device serial number in Redbox Management → Businesses → Devices.
-
A green status light indicates the device is online and connected to Redbox.
-
Check the date and time the device was last reported as 'Online'.
Sending a Test Print
How to send a test print: Redbox Management → Businesses → Devices → Select a Printer → Select the ‘Settings’ Icon → Select ‘Test Print’
To further troubleshoot a device, a test print can be sent manually from the device management area in Redbox Management.
-
If Redbox is able to successfully send a receipt to the device, a success screen will appear and a test receipt will print from your device.
-
In the event Redbox is unable to successfully send a test print to the device, additional troubleshooting steps will be provided on the results screen.
